In Spain there is a long tradition in hunting. In fact it is habitual to train greyhounds, podencos, pointers, setters and other dog breeds to go to hunt rabbits or all kind of birds. However do not believe that most of this dogs have a wonderful life just for being trained as hunters. Most of them are killed when the hunting season ends. Not because they are old or sick. They do it because the tradition says it that way.

This practice it is not only authorized by the government because hunting in Spain reports a lot of money. What it is more salvage about all this practices it is that all the dogs have the same penalty: die by what it is known as the Pianist Death or the Typewriter Death.  Through this method, people hang the dogs by the neck just high enough so that they have to support themselves using their back legs. The dogs get too tired to stand any longer, so they collapse and hang themselves, slowly dying in agony and terror. It’s called “The Typewriter because of the noise the dogs’ nails make as they skitter frantically on the ground, trying to get free.. This is a very cruel method which must be abolished. For this reason I invite you to sign this petition to do not permit that more galgos will suffer.
